I have hardened foam flys before with various glues and coatings but why spend the extra? effort when you can just make several spares in no time.. that’s my theory about foam flys they are so cheap and fast to tie that any extra time to make them last is kind of silly IMHO.

Would you? think a very small amount of 5 minuit Epoxy Coating On the Foam? I saw your Last Video of fishing with it and i saw how it was beaten up and ate on it was.

I’ve tried hook-up many times but the best I’ve done is one that lands hook-up about half? the time. I’m still working on that problem.

I would? recommend looking for a good vise on Craigslist. Spend a little more on a good vise. The cheap ones fall apart, and are made of low quality materials. Then go to your local fly shop. Talk to them about what you want to fish for, and they should get you the materials you need. The materials in a kit are typically low quality, and sometimes useless. You will amass your materials over the years.

  15. William B Tedrick says:

There? are several good kits available from online retailers just Google “fly tying kit” and pick one..

I may have seen you before at the Bush Library. I’ve never caught anything before on a fly, but? I know there are some bass in there.

I have access to some private lakes but there are a few places around town. Lake Bryan, Geo Bush Library, Brazos Center pond, Burton creek CS parks, but Lake Somerville? is where you will find me most times.

I’m an Aggie. Where do you fly fish in the? B/CS area?

Great frog. I like the idea of the folded foam body it looks realistic and is different from the others i have seen on here. Cheap, simple and effective.?
