Every spring, there are over a dozen lakes around Vancouver where anglers can enjoy fishing for stocked rainbow trout. Although it is not an exotic fishery, these opportunities cater families and those who are just starting out in sportfishing. In this trip, we take a look at lakes around Squamish, a small town between Vancouver and Whistler. For more videos, please visit: www.fishingwithrod.com Subscribe to go Fishing with Rod! Join the FLG boys as they head out to Yellowstone National Park to slay some monster trout! This trip has become a Summer tradition for all the guys and something we look forward to all year. The sights and sounds are amazing in the park and something that never gets old. The fly fishing this year was unbelievable as always and something we will never forget! Check it out!
That fish is so cute? !
when i was in the south fork of the flathead there was a big cutthroat next to our campsite. he was very tame and stayed by shore while we were a? few feet from him. we happened to have some shrimp and i threw a small piece in front of him and he ate it. that fish got about a half pound of crappy shrimp that night.
why don’t you use floating? pwegg..?
I bought it in Australia when I was a teen 20 years ago. Best? $10 ever spent!
Hey dude where did you get that rod holder from? I can’t seem to find one like that…all the ones I’ve found are complicated and lack the simplicity of what you? have.
A hearing check might not be a bad? idea.
Rod..less talking because i cant even understand what you are saying..you are mumuring at yourself…:(?
That trout swam? away lazily
man ur just? awesome!!!! thank you for these videos!
Good to see someone thinking so deep and sharing? it so easily with the world.
Thank you for the kind words. We’ll? keep producing for our subscribers. 🙂
Love the channel!!! Your a? great host!!!
Worms, shrimp, eggs should work just? fine, but usually we prefer to use lures or flies for wild trout.
Perhaps I missed it, but do you have any videos on catching wild trout with a spinning rod? Stocked trout are too easy to catch, but wild trout seem almost impossible to catch at times. What’s a good bait method for wild trout? will they take? shrimp? I think that’s about the only thing I haven’t tried.
i just use an? “Ugly Stik”, 7ft long, medium light action for anything from peamouth up to 30+ pound lakers
Look up Daiwa SMC Spinmatic®-C Ultralight and Fenwick HMXS series. Both have ultralight models,? not 9′, but close enough (8′, 8’6″).
I have? been having a hard time finding a 9′ long (approximately) light spinning rod. Do you have any suggestion on a non-custom rod?
The rod I am using was custom built with a Rainshadow flyfishing rod blank (9′ long, 4wt, 4 pieces). I am a big fan of light spinning rod,? especially the long ones. This rod was made specifically for float fishing for smaller fish (a couple of lbs). I usually outfit it with a small spinning reel that is spooled with 4 or 6lb test. You can see this rod in action in our latest video “Lystfiskerinden”.
I was wondering what brand/model is the? rod you are using?
I am wanting to try this type of fishing. Besides your suggested 9 foot spinning rod, what power, action, line&lure wieght ratings do you look for? Would a noodle rod work?
Perhaps, give it a? try!
it is possible to use? also small slice of ham?
Great video as always!
I tried a sliding float rig for the first time this season, it has worked very well. I? tie a stopper knot above the sliding float using a piece of fly line backing, although dental floss would probably work. The stopper knot can be slid up or down depending on the depth you are fishing, I’ve fished successfully at depths up to 12 feet. The stopper knot does not affect casting, and passes through the guides easily (I just leave it on when I switch to lures)
Surely it would work, as long as you can find a way to keep it? on the hook.
i was wondering .. did any one try using those sun-dryed shrimps that you can buy for cheap in? chinatown … … just wondering
It should not make a difference. Personally, when targeting wild trout, we prefer to fish with artificial lures or flies, especially if we intend to? release them. Bait caught fish usually have a higher chance of dying when released. Good luck.
very nice video with great music,? Yellowstone Park, we love you !!!
nice that you’ve done it again, the fish in the water
Peter & caroline from germany
Top notch. Nice trout caught, but? it’s the camaraderie that stole the show.
“…Michigan Style!” that was funny shit there!? great film!
I’m amazed you three caught anything.? But that was a nice bow.
I would use trout magnet for fishing on? this type of water…
Looks like you guys know how to have a? good time on the water. You will remember those times for years to come. I can’t wait to fish Yellowstone for the first time this summer.
great video. I gotta get back out? there……

I caught a few trout in Yellowstone this summer. That bus-sized rainbow of yours could have eaten all mine for a snack. Amaaaazing fish. I posted an underwater video of cutthroats from the area you were fishing – search “Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout? Spawning”.
“egg pattern, Michigan style!” — laugh my ass off. Brings me back to the Pere M. Great vid guys;? That was a beast in Trout Lake.
fuck? a license..sweet trip.
Nice vid. We were on Slough Creek the SAME day as you guys. You guys were in the Second Meadow while we were hooked up on a cut. We were also fiming. Check out our vid. Search YouTube for “Trout Media – Big Sky”. Yellowstone is great and documenting your trip helps others get a better feel for the awesome? sights out there.
Kudos to the guys manning the camera. Lots of beautiful shots in this video. Gotta love HD. Including video? of the drive and preparation helps capture the anticipation which is such a big part of a fishing trip like this. Well done.
