Hey i live in southern florida on the gulf coast, on marco island right near naples. normally we just do backwater fishing, using jigs, but we wanted to try some grouper fishing this winter, just after christmas. ive never done it lol but ive seen it done in competitions etc ive obviously had a shot of one but i think? just as you say, it takes the enjoyment out of fishing, more for quantity than quality too. you can whip half pound roach out by the ton lol i much prefer to play a nice big pike or trout on an 11 or 12 foot rod with nice action and feel the fish fighting.

Yeah i admit its not my thing. It takes alot of what you had to do and loved in fishing, out of fishing lol. Mind you its each to their own I guess, if they enjoy? it as much as I love a rod and reel, who am I to say its wrong.
Ive got a margin pole 6 metre hehe, thats the closest I will get to having pole stuff in my gear.
Catfish are pretty easy to catch, both from very small? to very large. Actually ive had times when ive had to feed them off somewhere else to try and stop catching them because I was after the carp.
Secondly have you ever eaten a catfish? They taste discustin and are full of crap. No good meat at all really and actually what good meat there is has a very vile taste

No, just not even close, you are arguing the wrong person? on this. My family is from Southern Indiana and I have eaten cats from 2 to 45 pounds. The 45 pound cat’s meat is gray, a bit mushy, and very fishy tasting. The 2 pound cat had firm, white, delicious meat.
just because thats the ones you find on menus doesnt mean thats the only good ones to eat…. those are just average size to keep the fillets? uniform.
